The Journal's Origin
How Aledorun Began
Aledorun was established in Jakarta in 2021 as an independent editorial project. The founding observation was straightforward: most wellness content available to Indonesian men either followed international conventions without local adaptation, or relied on anecdotal promotion rather than documented research. A gap existed for a publication grounded in qualified nutritional and movement science literature.
The journal's founding editor spent several years reviewing published research on daily health habits, body composition, nutritional balance, and active recovery before the first issue was published. The editorial approach draws from peer-reviewed publications in nutritional science and exercise physiology, cross-referenced with the practical realities of Jakarta's urban lifestyle.
Aledorun is an independent wellness resource focused on everyday nutrition and active lifestyle practices for men. The content is not affiliated with any governmental or institutional body.
What Guides the Work
Evidence-Informed Sourcing
Every article cites indexed nutritional and movement science publications. Promotional materials, unverified claims, and social media wellness commentary are excluded from the editorial process entirely.
Local Relevance
International research findings are reviewed for applicability to Indonesian dietary patterns, climate conditions, and urban activity environments. Content is adapted to reflect Jakarta's lifestyle rhythms.
Editorial Independence
Aledorun operates without sponsorship from supplement or nutrition brands. Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. Partner content is clearly labelled and reviewed under the same standards as standard articles.
Reza Hakim, Founding Editor
Reza Hakim founded Aledorun after a decade working in Jakarta's media industry, where a consistent gap was observed in the coverage of evidence-based men's wellness. His editorial background spans long-form journalism and research communication, with a focus on translating complex nutritional and movement science findings into accessible, practical content.
Reza holds a postgraduate qualification in nutritional science communication and sits on the editorial advisory board of two independent nutrition journals. He writes the majority of Aledorun's long-form weekly articles and oversees all source verification and fact-checking processes.
Outside the editorial office, Reza practices strength training and weekend trail running in the Bogor highlands, practices that directly inform the journal's coverage of active recovery and functional fitness for men navigating demanding work schedules.
